
Sensitivity & Stress
(High) sensitivity & Stress, that's what the month of October was all about for me.
A month of awareness, of of recognizing tension, of letting go and discharging, and of returning to my own energy..
To be honest, that journey started a while ago, when I sat at home and went on a journey of discovery within myself. An exciting journey – with lows, but also with many valuable highlights.
(High) sensitivity and stress — how do you experience that?
I discovered that as soon as I entered somewhere, I immediately picked up the (underlying) atmosphere – both at work and in my private life. In busy environments, I often sought safety in the presence of others, because fears, insecurities and energies could pass through me like a whirlwind.
What is also a big stress trigger for me is injustice..
That touches me deeply and doesn't let go easily.
nly later did I understand what that meant to me and how I could deal with it better. Nowadays I ask myself questions to become even more aware of what is going on, instead of going along with it immediately.
The urge to comply
For a long time I thought that I was not good enough, or that others only liked me if I adapted to what was expected of me.
I wanted to make everyone happy – fixing what didn't feel right – to live up to an image of how I thought I should be.
In combination with low self-confidence, that was a perfect cocktail for tension and stress.
Recognizing is already letting go
Sometimes you feel the tension or stress, but you can't let go of it immediately.
Door je (hoog)gevoeligheid, de omstandigheden of oude patronen reageer je zoals je dat ooit geleerd hebt. Maar wist je dat recognition is already the first step of letting go??
Be kind to yourself – something I still practice myself.
Sometimes letting go just needs a little more time, because it unconsciously continues to work for a while.
Luisteren naar mijn lichaam, luisteren naar de (hoog) gevoeligheid & Stress
My body often tells me that there is stress before I realize it myself.
Daarom zorg ik nu bewust beter voor mezelf: ik neem geregeld een massage, doe aan verschillende vormen van yoga, of praat met mijn geweldige man om mijn gedachten te ordenen. Ook de natuur helpt me enorm – even met mijn blote voeten over de aarde lopen, of gewoon in de tuin werken. En soms? Dan zet ik de tv op geluidsstand 3 en binge ik lekker een serie – ook dát is ontladen.
Back to your energy
If you can let go of tension, stress or overstimulation, space is created.
A sigh of relief.
